The blooming flowers and their fragrance attract thousands of people to this spectacular place every day. Situated next to the City Center of Chandigarh, this rose garden has celebrations with lots of pomp in during the February and March months.

Created: Because of his interest in horticulture and liking for flowers, Dr. M.S. Randhawa, the first Chief Commissioner of Chandigarh, took interest in planning and giving shape to this Rose Garden and it got created in the year 1967. Since then, this spectacular place has been attracting visitors from every corner of the world. People come here and rediscover the beauty within their heart as nothing as expressive and charming as a rose flower.
About the place: One of the best gardens in the entire Asia, the Rose Garden in Chandigarh is one of the unique places attracting hoards of visitors from all over the country and the world. It is also known as “Zakir Rose Garden” after one of the former President of India, Dr. Zakir Hussain. This spectacular garden has some rare varieties of roses along with some medicinal plants. The place is stretched over 27 acres of land and has got about 17,000 plants. There are about 1,600 species of the rose in this garden. One can see the beautiful rose plants in the flower beds
and the beautifully carved lawns. The annual festival of Gardens is held each year in the month of March. There are various competitions which are held such as; photography, bonsai, landscaping etc. One could enjoy delicious food, various rides and other cultural events here.
How to reach:
By Road: One can have the benefit of the appealing road journey to Chandigarh using the national highways that comprises No.21 national highway that links Kinnaur and Ambala and the other one is No.22, which connects Leh and Chandigarh.
By Train: Chandigarh is linked to a lot of central cities. Shatabdi Express and Himalayan Queen are two every day trains that link Chandigarh with the national capital.
By Air: The airport which is located about 12 kms from the center of the city connects Chandigarh with important places like the national capital, Amritsar and Leh.
