This museum is a unique one in the continent of Asia and amuses the visitors by taking them through a journey which is 5,000 years back depicting the origin of earth and how the life originated from the unicellular creatures and passing through different stages has come to the present time.
About the place: Evolution Museum is also known as the Science Museum and is approachable by everyone as it is situated in the sector 10 of the Chandigarh City. The museum is one of its own kinds in the entire Asia. It is not only one of the favorite places to visit for the history lovers or the lovers of archaeology and evolution but for any ordinary person as it takes one through a very amusing and interesting journey starting from the Indus Valley Civilization to the present day. This museum is opened for the visitors from 10:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. everyday and it is closed on Mondays. It has a Cyclorama Gallery depicting the origin of earth and the journey of life from the unicellular organism to the current form of multi-cellular organisms. There is a painted panel having the map of archaeological places of Chandigarh. There is a rich library which has many valuable books on evolution, biology and paleontology.
How to reach:
By Road: The visitors can take the buses owned by the state government which connect Chandigarh with the other important cities of the north India. There are other types of bus services like the deluxe, semi-deluxe and Volvo bus service which connect Chandigarh with Shimla, Manali, Dehradun and New Delhi very well. Apart from the good roads, the visitors get the additional gift of the spectacular natural surroundings during their road journeys. Taxi service is also available.
By Train: Chandigarh is connected to many important cities through the rail. There are two important trains running daily-The Shatabdi Express and the Himalayan Queen which connect Chandigarh with New Delhi.
By Air: The airport being only 12 kms away from the center of the city, Chandigarh gets connected to the rest of the country and with the other countries also through New Delhi.
